"These folks are reliable and kind. Like service in the 80's. Howard is a sharp gentleman."
"GREAT SERVICE!! THIS REVIEW IS DETAILED BUT YOU WILL FIND IT VERY HELPFUL. My 13 year old EPSON WORKFORCE 545 all-in-one printer now works better than when new. I'd give 6 STARS if I could. HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: MY PRINTER PROBLEM: My printer, like all Epson printers, is designed to shut down and display a message to contact Epson Service when the internal waste ink container is full. It took 13 years to get to this point in my case with medium use. This container gets the excess ink mostly from when you do head cleanings and/or print to-the-edge photos. Epson software will shut the printer down when this waste ink tank gets near to full -- preventing ink spills (a good thing). Most other printer models (HP, etc.) do not have this system so ink spills can happen on them. It would be nice if Epson made this waste ink tank (full of felt pads to adsorb the waste ink) an easy thing for the customer to fix, but Epson neither makes nor sells either the waste ink tank itself nor the felt pads designed to fit inside, so Howard at Printer Repair Pros had to custom cut some felt pads to fit inside the old tank. Also the internal counter needs to reset -- all making this NOT a do-it-yourself job. Epson does have a list of recommended Epson Service experts - available online or by calling Epson Service to have them email you a link to it. There are less than a dozen in the whole LA Co area. I first called the one nearest me -- about 10 miles away in El Monte, but that one never answered the phone and there no way to even leave a message. I then checked out the reviews on all the various recommended Epson service experts in LA Co. The nearest El Monte one had terrible reviews -- many customers had still not gotten their printers back at all even after a year (no wonder the phone isn't answered there). The service providers at mid distance for me (Glendale/Burbank area, etc) seemed to focus on a wide range of tech devices (incl. computers, etc.), not just printers, so I did not know how much they would specialize in how to fix my particular printer. That left about three service providers--all about a 30-40 mile trip one way for me. Reading the reviews on each of these 3, I noted that Printer Repair Pros in Chatsworth not only had excellent reviews, but that some of those were on fixing the exact problem that my printer had. HERE IS MY EXPERIENCE WITH PRINTER REPAIR PROS: Howard was a delight to talk to both on the phone and in person. He needed to check out parts availability when I first called, so he called me back in about 15 minutes. The parts were unavailable from Epson, but Howard explained that he had a work around to cut new felt pads to fit. I got the printer in on a Friday afternoon and he expected it to be ready about the middle of the following week. Actually, he called the next afternoon (a Saturday!) and had the work done and that the printer ready to pick up and pay him the balance due after the $89 deposit. Since my printer had never been serviced for all these years and had accumulated a lot of dust/cat hair, I included extra cleaning and service as Howard recommended. The final invoice lists the work done as "Replaced maintenance [waste ink] pads and reset counter. Serviced/aligned printhead, Serviced cartridge assembly, data encoder, pump\cap\wiper unit, paper path components and ADF\scanner. Tests as designed. 59.85\62.85"
The invoice noted that the internal counter noted that my printer had printed 48,046 copies -- or about 10 copies per day over the 13 years. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE YOUR PRINTER TO GET FIXED!! (They have been in business for years and do printers only, but all types, including large ones that they have to travel to fix on site.). My invoice was "S.O. No.13327" and my customer number there is 14919. PRICE: Parts $19.00, Tax $1.85, Labor $139.00, Total $159.85.
(which is very in line with AI saying to expect $150-$200 for such a printer repair)."
"They did an excellent job in a timely manner. And their prices are very fair. I will recommend them to everybody."
